Pair of F598 Groovy Lounge Chairs by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, Netherlands, 1970s
A refined pair of F598 Groovy lounge chairs designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in the early 1970s. The low, flowing form is shaped around the body, combining a steel structure with moulded foam to create the soft, sculptural profile characteristic of Paulin’s work for Artifort.
Upholstered in blue wool, the chairs have a calm and distinctive presence. The rounded contours, low seat and integrated form make the Groovy a recognizable example of progressive European seating design from the 1970s.
Condition
Very good condition, with minor signs of wear and subtle, even fading to the wool upholstery, consistent with age and use.
