HOPMI Chair by Gerrit Rietveld, Netherlands, 2013, Limited Edition 129/150

A collectible HOPMI Chair designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1932 and produced in the Netherlands in 2013 by architect Victor Veldhuijzen van Zanten, with permission from the Rietveld heirs. This example is individually numbered 129/150 and belongs to the first limited production series of 150 chairs. A second series of 250 examples followed later.

Originally designed in 1932, only two examples of the HOPMI Chair were made at the time. Its distinctive construction combines chromed tubular steel elements with a plywood seat and backrest, connected using the patented HOPMI fastening system. The chair reflects Rietveld’s characteristic pursuit of functional, economical and visually innovative furniture. Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888–1964) was one of the leading figures of the Dutch De Stijl movement and is internationally celebrated for iconic designs including the Red and Blue Chair, Zig-Zag Chair and the Rietveld Schröder House.

This example is particularly complete and comes with its original packaging box, original booklet and original assembly tools.
